Shine Body Jewelry PackagingPackage Design, Fall 2007. InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. The client for this project is an imaginary body piercing studio that I created. Body jewelry, when bought at a studio, normally comes in a small zip top bag; because I was going to be packaging something that is not normally "packaged" I wanted to create something reuseable (for storage in the case of the jewlery, and for refills for the soap, lubricant and sea salt). The packages also had to be stylish enough to want to keep. In the case that the packaging is no longer desired, I chose to use aluminum and tin so that it could be recycled. |

Vanity Fair 2nd Annual Green Issue Cover RedesignProduction Design, Spring 2007. InDesign, Photoshop. This assignment was to redesign a magazine cover and a spread. The cover had to include 2 color bumps that would also be incorporated into the spread, shown below. I chose to use blue to add color to the eyes of the model and boost the background, and a warm grey in the rocks. |

Vanity Fair 2nd Annual Green Issue Spread RedesignProduction Design, Spring 2007. InDesign, Illustrator. The blue color bump is repeated in the photo and illustrations of the falcon. The warm grey appears in the callout, by line and section info. I chose to include an advertisement in the spread (also designed by me) because that is what would be expected of me in the real world, but it's also to poke fun at the amount of advertising that appears in Vanity Fair, even the Green Issue. |

Personal Business CardProduction Design, Spring 2007. InDesign, Illustrator. The straight lines represent my perfectionism, as well as my desire for organization and logic. The flower shapes and wood grain represent my creative side and my passion for the environment (without being cliché). The overall design is clean and captures my style. These were printed by Greener Printer on 100% post consumer content recycled paper with soy based inks. |

DodgeBall eNewsletter, Page 1Studio 1, Winter 2007. InDesign and Illustrator. One of four pages. Click here to download a .pdf of the newsletter. Photos taken by me. Illustrations done by me from my photographs. I used a 4 column grid used in a 3 + 1 manner to evoke the 3 line texture of a dodgeball, a motif that is repeated throughout my design. The colors I used are from the National Dodgeball League (NDL) website, I stuck with them because they are bright and fun like the sport. |

Terrapass PosterDigital Page and Web Design, Fall 2006. InDesign. This assignment was to create a poster for anything we wanted. I chose to do a poster for Terrapass and their carbon offsets for flights. My intentions were to make my classmates, and anyone else who might see the poster, aware of the impact of flying, and what can be done about it. Having a goal for what I wanted the poster to achieve helped motivate me. The result is a clean design that I imagine working well in an airport. |

Stephen Colbert 4 Page Magazine Spread, Pages 1 and 2Digital Page and Web Design, Fall 2006. InDesign. The directions for this assignment were to create two 2-page spreads for a favorite entertainer. The first spread was solely dedicated to a photo of the selected person and their name. The name had to be presented without a baseline, using InDesign only. I used the rounded letters of Stephens name to form a halo shape around his head, with the straight letters pointing towards him. This mimicks the design of his television set, which he talks about in the interview on the following spread. |

Stephen Colbert 4 Page Magazine Spread, Pages 3 and 4Digital Page and Web Design, Fall 2006. InDesign. In this second spread there was a requirement for number of words, in addition to a visual cohesiveness with the first spread. The spread also must include a callout, and a photo text wrap. |

Buckminster Fuller Type PortraitType 1, Winter 2006. Photoshop and Illustrator. This portrait of Buckminster Fuller was created using the color of type. I generated five different values though the variations of the biography of Mr. Fuller. I selected the font Univers because of its wide variety. |

Hybrid CivicSurvey of Computer Art Applications, Fall 2006. Illustrator. I was inspired by the love bug graphic in which the word "love" is in the shape of a VW bug. Today hybrids are taking over the environmentalist/hippy image that VW once had. |
